AHEAD OF PM MODI’S VISIT, SEARCHES LAUNCHED IN SAMBA AFTER SUSPICIOUS MOVEMENT
Jammu: Security forces on Tuesday launched a search operation in Samba district of Jammu following reports of suspected movement last night.
The search operation comes just five ahead of PM Modi’s visit to Vijaypur area of the district where he is scheduled to address a public rally after laying foundation stones of several projects.
Vijaypur is located barely 18-20 kilometers from the International Border with Pakistan.
A source said a joint team of the army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, Central Reserve Police Force and a squad of trained sniffer dogs carried out massive searches in Basantar river basin, Ramgarh sector and other adjoining border villages after noticing suspicious movement.
He said that the army had responded with firing last night after suspicious movement along IB in Ramgarh.
“A suspicious movement was noticed post-midnight by alert army soldiers in Samba. Search operations are on since then,” said Lt Col Davender Anand, Jammu based defence spokesperson.
A search operation was also carried on Jammu-Pathankot highway and Vijaypur town, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a public rally on February 3, after laying foundation stones of Jammu AIIMS and other vital projects.
