MIRWAIZ CONDEMNS ‘ARREST SPREE’ IN SOUTH KASHMIR
Srinagar: Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Thursday “strongly condemned” the arrest spree in south Kashmir’s districts of Shopian and Pulwama ahead of parliamentary elections.
“Strongly condemn the daily arrest spree of youth from Pulwama and Shopian. Continued repression in #SouthKashmir is heart rendering,” said the Mirwaiz on Twitter.
“Unless all those who claim to speak for fundamental #HumanRights of all don’t speak up, people of Kashmir will continue to be at the receiving end,” he said.
Dozens of persons have been detained during night raids in Shopian and Pulwama in past few days.
Both the districts are scheduled to go to polls on May 6 during the last leg of three-phased elections for the Anantnag Lok Sabha seat
