Pro-freedom slogans rock funeral of Zakir Musa’s deputy in southKashmir’s Tral
Srinagar: Thousands of people on Saturday took part in the last rites of slain deputy chief of Ansar Ghazwatul Hind terrorist in Arampora area of Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Our correspondent said thousands of people took part in the funeral prayers held for Mohammad Soliha Akhoon at his ancestral Arampora area.
He said that the mourners raised slogans in favour of Islam and Kashmir’s freedom besides eulogizing slain Lashkar commander Naveed Jatt.
Akhoon, who was a deputy of Zakir Musa, was killed in an encounter along with five associates in an encounter in Arampora early today.
“Based on a credible input about the presence of terrorists in Arampora area of Awantipora, a cordon and search operation was launched by security forces in the area today morning,” said a police spokesman.
He said as the searches were going on, the search party was fired upon by the terrorists. The fire was retaliated leading to an encounter, he said.
In the ensuing encounter, six terrorists were killed.
