TWO JAISH TERRORISTS KILLED IN SHOPIAN ENCOUNTER : POLICE

Srinagar: Two terrorists were killed in an encounter with the security forces in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Wednesday, police said. 

A police official said a joint team of army, SOG and CRPF personnel launched a search operation in Meemender village, on the outskirts of town around 5 am following credible inputs about the presence of terrorists. 

He said the terrorists opened fire on the security forces as the operation was in progress.

The forces, according to the official, returned the fire, triggering an encounter.

A police spokesman said two terrorists affiliated with Jaish-e-Muhammad were killed in the encounter. “Two Jaish terrorists were killed in the encounter . Arms and ammunition were recovered. Searches are going on,” he said.
