TWO TERRORISTS KILLED IN BIJBEHARA IN SOUTH KASHMIR’S ANANTNAG: POLICE
Srinagar: Two terrorists were killed in an encounter with the security forces in Bijbehara area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Thursday morning, police said.
“On a credible input a cordon and search operation was launched at Bagender Mohalla Bijbehara area in District Anantnag, by Police and security forces,” said a spokesman.
He said the encounter began after the terrorists fired upon a search party.
“In the ensuing encounter, two terrorists were killed and the bodies were retrieved from the site of encounter,” he said.
“Their identities and affiliations are being ascertained. Further search in the area is going on.”
Incriminating material including arms and ammunition was recovered from the site of the encounter, he said, adding that the police has registered a case.
“Citizens are requested not to venture inside encounter zone since such an area can prove dangerous due to stray explosive materials. People are requested to cooperate with police till the area is completely sanitized and cleared of all the explosive materials if any,” said the spokesman.
